Diversity Visa Lottery Winners Selected: The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program is administered by the U.S Department of State (DOS) and up to 55,000 immigrant visas are made available per year through a lottery pool for foreign nationals from countries with historically low immigration rates to the U.S.

STEP 1: For those that successfully submitted for DV-2023 lottery program, login the official website, click on “Check Status”

Make sure you have your Entrant’s Confirmation Number, Last/Family Name that was used on the Electronic Diversity Visa Entry Form, and Year of Birth to check the entrant status online.

STEP 2: Click “Continue”

You will see “Confirmation Number” box, “Last Name” box, “Year of birth” box and then “Authentication Code” box. Make sure you fill up the boxes with the right details.

STEP 3: After filling up the boxes correctly, including the Authentication box, Click “Submit”

After that, the Next page will bring out your Entrant DV-2023 Result on the Screen, print it for future use.

If you are going for B1/B2 visa, make sure that whoever is sponsoring you is what you put on the DS-160. If you are going for F1 visa as a student, make sure that whatever you put on your DS-160 form as your sponsor matches with whoever is your sponsor on your I-20 and the information you give during the interview.

Another mistake with regards to mismatch of information is, on the DS-160 form there is a question about length of stay in the United States. If you choose three weeks, it means that you are going to stay in the United States for three weeks.

You get to the interview room and they ask you how long will you be staying? And you say you’ll be staying for two weeks or two months. That is a mismatch of information and it is going to affect your vessel approval.

Make sure that the information you put on the DS-160 form will match with the responses you gave during the interview. This is a very common mistake that affects a lot of people and affect their visa approval.

Lack of strong purpose of Travel

When you appear for the interview, the first question they usually ask is your purpose of traveling to the United States? Mind you, whatever answer you give will determine the follow up questions and the flow of the interview from them.

If you are not able to give a very strong and clear reason for your travel, you won’t get your visa.

It’s not just enough to say I am going to the U.S to visit my friend or family, speak to why you are going to visit them and why you need to visit them.

It is not just enough to say I am going for a conference, speak to the why.

The 2024 Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery Program application is now open for eligible applicants. If you are not a native of a country with historically low rates of immigration to the United States, there are two other ways you might be able to qualify.

(i) Is your spouse a native of a country with historically low rates of immigration to the United States? If yes, you can claim your spouse’s country of birth – provided that you and your spouse are named on the selected entry, are found eligible and issued diversity visas, and enter the United States at the same time.

(ii) Are you a native of a country that does not have historically low rates of immigration to the United States, but in which neither of your parents was born or legally resident at the time of your birth? If yes, you may claim the country of birth of one of your parents if it is a country whose natives are eligible for the DV-2024 program.

Requirement 2: Each DV applicant must meet the education/work experience requirement of the DV program by having either:

(i) at least a high school education or its equivalent, defined as successful completion of a 12-year course of formal elementary and secondary education;

(ii) two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform. The Department of State will use the U.S. Department of Labor’s O*Net Online database to determine qualifying work experience.

Note: You should not submit an entry to the DV program unless you meet both of these requirements.

Passport Not Required for DV-2024

The requirement to have a valid passport for the DV Lottery will not apply for participation of 2024 Diversity Visa (DV) lottery program. You don’t need a passport or passport number to apply for this years DV Lottery.

DV-2024 Lottery Photo Requirements

Photo is very important because the photo requirements is based on the passport photo of the United States of America. It’s based on the visa photo requirement of the United States of America and not requirements in your country.

DV 2024 lottery applicants must upload a recent photo of themselves and all co-applicants. You must upload an electronic file containing your digital photograph after you register for the DV 2024 lottery.
